The development of clinical laboratory and pathology services is crucial for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. These services will be established early in the process as establishment of the cancer prevention and early detection program will require establishment of various laboratory and pathology services. We have hired a laboratory technician and a phlebotomist to perform basic lab tests at the currently rented facility and have partnered with a medical college to provide clinical pathology services until the pathology department at BTFCC is fully developed.
Our goal is to acquire all the necessary laboratory equipment by March 2019, and hire a part-time pathologist to provide pathology services. The number of laboratory and pathology service providers will be adjusted as the specimen volume increases. The laboratory and pathology department will move to its permanent location after the construction of the BTFCC building.
